Are you spending endless hours in the gym in an attempt to lose weight? Are you feeling discouraged because you’re not seeing the results you had hoped for?…. Well it might be that your workout routine needs revamping.
Consider making any number of these changes to your exercise regime:
- Work out in the morning on an empty stomach. Your bodies stores of glycogen, glucose and insulin are lower in the morning allowing you to burn more fat.
- Consider short bursts of high intensity exercise instead of longer sessions of low intensity. Twenty seconds of intense exercise followed by twenty seconds of rest is actually more beneficial and burns more fat.
- Train the entire body. Instead of training the upper-body one day and the lower body the next, consider exercises that engage the whole body. In doing so your growth hormone levels will spike and you will burn fat.
- Alternate sets and decrease reps. This will allow one muscle group to recover while you train a different one. Decreasing the number reps will give you a much bigger spike in metabolism by reducing your reps and doing an extra set instead.
- Do exercises that target the specific area you want to eliminate. For example, if you’re trying to get rid of stubborn lower belly fat, try specific abdominal exercises that target the lower stomach.
- Listen to your body. When you’re tired, ill, or injured don’t ignore the signs and symptoms. Slowing down, resting, or even just changing the activity are all important things to consider to avoid any risk to your health.
- Do more weight baring exercises. Building muscle is important if you want to burn more fat. Muscle uses more calories to maintain itself than fat does so building muscle is extremely beneficial if you want to lose weight.
- Get enough sleep. Getting the recommended eight hours of sleep per night is essential so that your body can recuperate.
